I've been thinking a lot lately about how to manage reading all the great blogs out there. I've discovered inspirational and interesting blogs from all over Canada, the US, and lately even one from across "the pond". But some days I'm so busy, that I end up skipping a lot of great blogs. At the same time, I want more!
Reading Deb and Jen's blogs the last few days, they both wrote about meeting each other for the first time-- and there has been talk of meeting up at the Resolution Run on New Year's eve. I'm currently trying to arrange a coffee meetup with a blogger who lives across town, I live with another Calgary blogger, and used to work with yet another. I'm really enjoying the community that comes with connecting to other 'local' bloggers!
So, dear readers, I'm asking for your help and feedback.
- How do you manage to read (and comment) on so many blogs?
- How do you find local blogs and/or running buddies in your area?
- Do you know of any Calgary area running/triathlon bloggers? Are you one I've missed? So far I've manged to find (and follow):
Let's see, on my blog roll, the following are Calgary runners or triathletes. This is in the order they are right this moment, and it changes as they update. Darryl, Julie (Crows Nest), Spanky (Canmore), Josh, Leana, Leslie, Dano, and Shannon. Let's just say some of these are sporadic at updating their blogs...
ReplyDeleteI use my blog roll. As new things come to the top I read them. I'll comment if I'm interested, or have something to contribute, or we know each other well enough to trade cheap shots. The google reader thing just pissed me off.
I found the best way to find blogs was to follow comments on the blogs I read, back to the commenter's blog.
I need a better method. Right now, I just look through my list of blogs I'm following. To be honest, there's some on there that hold less interest for me now. (I've kind of transferred from being a weight loss blogger to a tri/running blogger). I usually skim through that list to the ones that interest me more.
ReplyDeleteI do enjoy reading local bloggers though. Part of it is the possibility of meeting up some time, which is super fun! Then there's the fact that I enjoy reading about local races and events.
I also do what Keith does and follow comments on other blogs.
I do need to start a blog roll though. When I do, I'll come back to check your list of local bloggers. :)
I use Google Reader but I find it very overwhelming because I like to follow all sorts of blogs and some update a lot!
ReplyDeleteI do tend to check up on the "local" bloggers first, then other tri/runners, and finally if I have time the other random blogs.
I have found blogs through internet searches (usually by googling a specific race), WBs, and following comments & links on other people's blogs.
1) Every week I write a post and I comment all the other posts;
ReplyDelete2) I am not interested to find bloggers in my area. In my city there are a lot of runners to run with and during the race I meet other friends;
3) Calgary ....I live a little bit far.
